Charli XCXs Brat and Its Ugly Album Artwork Design

The Brat Generator fosters creative participation by making it easy to create personalized designs. Social media users enjoy sharing Brat Generator Memes and engaging with the playful aesthetic of the tool. From Brat Maker to Brat Genorator, the simplicity of the platform ensures that even first-time users can interact meaningfully with Charli XCX’s visual legacy while creating viral, shareable content. While the classic Brat Generator Green is the signature background, newer versions like the Brat Generator Different Colors introduce expanded customization options. Users can select from green, white, and other hues, providing greater flexibility for their creations.

This is not dance music with an eye toward history, à la Beyoncé’s Renaissance. The moments of reflection (“Rewind,” “Girl, so confusing”) are about the self and her relation to people in her immediate life. The future is even less relevant; the penultimate track “I think about it all the time” questions whether that life is all that it’s cracked up to be, or whether she wants to slow down and have a child. But these anxieties are not dwelt upon; the final track, “365,” argues that there is no tomorrow. Charli had won her fans’ hearts and bodies with her project—their minds might be an afterthought. In addition to the phenomena surrounding the album, brat is an exceptional album on its own.

Designer Brent David Freaney is sharing the inspiration behind Charli XCX’s viral cover art for her celebrated breakthrough album, Brat – and the months-long process it took to perfect it. The rapidly growing “brat” discourse even moved from social media to mainstream political discussion. Her full-length remix album, “Brat and it’s completely different but also still brat,” debuted on Oct. 11.

Brat (cover-art stylized in all lowercase, but in online streaming services stylized in all uppercase) is the sixth studio album by British singer-songwriter, Charli xcx. It was officially released on June 7th, 2024,[2][3] through Atlantic Records. The critically acclaimed album, which is considered her long-awaited mainstream breakthrough, also inspired the fashion trend “Brat Girl Summer” as the cover art and multiple songs went viral last month. At a listening party on Oct. 10, the singer told fans that the goal of the remix album was to demonstrate “the infinite possibilities of dance music and music in general.” While the word “brat” usually evokes feelings of middle school angst, brat summer is all about accepting your imperfections while embracing the chaos. This Friday (11 October), she’ll drop the remix album, Brat and it’s completely different but also still brat, which stars Robyn, The 1975, Ariana Grande, Julian Casablancas, and more.

Breaking News, Entertainment, Exclusive Interviews & More. “Thank you so much for all the love and support you have all shown for this music, this campaign and for me,” she wrote via Instagram, adding, “At my most pure, my most Charli, my most brat.” Part of that process, Freaney explained to the Times, was combing through “500 different shades of green” and looking for inspiration everywhere – even in the mundane moments of everyday life.

From a design perspective, we find the discourse around the album fascinating. While Charli XCX isn’t the first artist to go down the minimal album cover route, it’s interesting to see so many people take the artwork to heart. Fans and detractors alike have taken to social media to share their thoughts on the artwork, often accompanied by humorous commentary or edits. This kind of viral content is priceless in today’s digital landscape, where word-of-mouth and social sharing can make or break a release. Commercially, Brat peaked at number one in the UK, Australia, and Ireland, and reached the top ten in 12 other countries, including the United States, where it marked Charli XCX’s highest debut on the Billboard 200 (number three). A deluxe edition, Brat and It’s the Same but There’s Three More Songs So It’s Not, with three additional tracks was released on 10 June 2024.brat generator - Charli XCX
